Sweet evening

I love low tide. I love the smell, the sounds and the way the water thinks it is sneaking out and that no one notices. The ripples do all sorts of dances as they merge and collide like they can't make up their mind which way to go.

Saturday's Serenity

I took the kayak out today for the first time in a long time. I did a thorough sweep first for spiders and snakes. There was a breeze coming from off shore that wanted to push me out to sea. I love to just stop paddling when I get out there and just listen to the sounds of Smithtown Bay-the lapping of the water against the boat, the gulls and ducks and the conversations of the people on the shore (who have no idea how you can hear everything they say from way out in the water! The sun was extremely sparkly today on the water. It looked like blinking lights on a runway. I am happy to report that I can still drag a 60-lb. boat up a hill.

Gathering moss

These photos represent my moss period. Some people think watching paint dry is boring and I suppose photographing moss would be along the same lines, but I like moss! It stays under water during high tide and only shows its face during low tide. The sun came out after 2 p.m. and the day turned glorious spring. The beach spiders are already out making it difficult to plop down on just any rock. The winter ducks were discussing when they will be leaving. No boats and no unusual or illegal activities to report along the shore. Smithtown Bay is secure. Over and out.
