My Birthday Sunset

A LOVE-ly day. Kite boarders on the bay; crashing waves this morning; a dinghy washed up on the shore; beautiful designs in the sand at low tide this evening and a spectacular sunset.

A sapphire sky

I have never, ever seen the sky such an amazing shade of blue. Maybe it was the time of day, the cold temperature and the blue molecules in the atmosphere all working together to form perfection. The Smithtown Bay was calm today and a little plane buzzed overhead. It was all sparkly and pure

Pink

Ever see pink water? Last night's sunset cast pink colors onto the bay. It's still too cold to stay long on the beach.

Seals of approval

I saw seals yesterday over by the big rock. If you think I get excited about razor clams and sunsets, imagine when I see seals! It really is pretty cool to see them lounging on their rocks. They must have amazing eyesight because as soon as they saw me they plunged into the water. I imagine them saying, "Shit, now I gotta go back into this freezing water just because of HER!" The little kid in me just wants to get close enough to pet them.

Jewels

Some women like diamonds, but I find more beauty in this razor clam than anything you could buy in a store. I know, I'm weird, right?

Lucas's birthday sunset

Yesterday was my nephew's 15th birthday. Of course we had a lovely sunset. It was too cold to watch it for long. Temps in the high 40's right now would feel like Florida to me.

Washed out

This super low tide tonight suits my spirits. It pulled the water so far out looks like we are expecting a tsunami.
